AdvThermaLogic Academic Edition teaches thermal processing to the students who become food process engineers, process authorities and plant managers, using the same calculation engine they will run in industry. Academic Edition is built so a class can work out the answer, get it wrong, see why and try again. Basic and Pro produce the answer; Academic Edition is designed for students to derive D, z and F from data rather than look them up, which is precisely what a process authority is later asked to justify. It is a Windows desktop application for university machines, with no per-semester renewal and no student accounts to administer. A macOS build is available on request after purchase. Nine modules ship today. Three exist only in this edition. The D-value Builder plots log N against time at fixed temperature, fits the line and reads D from the slope, handling multiple datasets and reporting R² beside every value, with teaching notes on the panel. The z-value Builder collects D at three or more temperatures and fits the thermal resistance curve, enforcing three as the minimum because two points fit perfectly and prove nothing. The Academic Quiz authors true/false and multiple-choice items in audit format with weights, explanations and per-student variability JSON, so F₀, length and flow rate differ for each student, with instructor and admin roles. The remaining six are the calculations graduates will run in a process authority's office or on a plant floor. Practice Unit Conversion provides marked conversion drills covering gallons per minute to cubic metres per second, inches to metres and Fahrenheit to Celsius, with feedback on each wrong answer before students touch a process calculation. Process Calculation covers lethality and F-value across the process. Aseptic Processing Indirect covers holding tube, flow rate and exit temperature for indirect heating systems. Aseptic Processing Direct Steam covers steam injection and infusion including the dilution effect. The Reynolds Calculator determines flow regime in the holding tube, laminar or turbulent, and why the fastest particle decides the process. Quality Retention shows nutrient and quality loss alongside lethality, the trade-off that justifies high-temperature short-time processing. The Academic Bundle is 1,000 euro plus VAT for a perpetual licence covering one administrator and four seats, with one year of support and updates, all nine modules included, no semester renewal and no expiry on the version owned. Additional seats are 200 euro each and can be added at any time. VAT in Greece is 24 percent; EU institutions with a valid VAT number are normally reverse-charged. During the current launch period licences are issued manually and each seat activates on one device per user by machine ID, which matters where students work on shared lab machines. Coverage today is thermal death kinetics, continuous flow and aseptic processing: the D-value and z-value builders, F-value process calculation and quality retention; hold tube, flow rate, exit temperature and the Reynolds calculation; and indirect systems and direct steam injection with unit-consistency practice in front of them. In-container processing is in development, covering retort processes, come-up and heat penetration with process calculation on a measured temperature history. A full teaching course is also in development, with lectures, worked problems and lab exercises covering thermal death kinetics, continuous flow, aseptic and in-container processing, written for food science undergraduates, graduate students, new industry professionals and process authorities in training.
